About: Earl Grey tea
Earl Grey tea is tea flavored with bergamot oil, derived from the rind of the bergamot orange. Earl Grey is usually made with black tea, but in recent years, green and white Earl Grey blends have become common.
The tea blend is named after the 2nd Earl Grey, the British Prime Minister in the 1830s, who was said to have recieved a gift of tea flavored with bergamot. The British tea companies Twinings and Jackson's of Piccadilly both claim to be the originator of the blend, and though both brands are now owned by the same company, their rivalry continues today.
