Indiana Jones's fedora is probably the most recognizable symbol of the character. The original hat, along with a jacket, is a very popular attraction at the Smithsonian's Museum of American History. The hat doesn't have special powers, but it figures heavily into all three films. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indy nearly crushes his arm under a dropping wall to rescue his beloved hat, and in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, we see how he acquired the hat--from a treasure seeker much like the one Indy grows up to be. It is rare to see promotional images of Indiana Jones without the hat; it is iconic.
Replicas of the hat are sold on many online retailer's sites as well as in hat shops, and the particular style (a brown felt fedora) is often referred to as the Indiana Jones hat by retailers and fans alike.
