Hibiscus, also called rosemallow, is a large genus of about 200–220 species of flowering plants in the family Malvaceae native to warm temperate, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world. Many species of hibiscus are grown as ornamental shrubs, while some varieties are used for medicinal and culinary purposes. Hibiscus makes a tangy tea that is known as Jamaican water in Latin America. In Hinduism, hibiscus is used as an offering to Goddess Kali and Lord Ganesha. (information from Wikipedia.)
