The phrase "tropical island" evokes images of palm trees, bright flowers, beautiful beaches and blue waters. Islands in the tropical zone of the world, from the Windward and Leeward Islands of the Caribbean Sea to the islands of Polynesia in the Pacific to islands such as the Seychelles and the Maldives in the Indian Ocean, attract tourists and sightseers. Tropical islands boast everything from coral reefs to beaches to mountains to jungles, all of which should be protected and admired for their natural beauty.
